Durham County Council reserves the right to verify the identity of the individual making a request if there are valid concerns about the legitimacy of a Subject Access Request (SAR). If you do not have an established relationship with the Council, you will need to present evidence of your identity and your current address. This can be submitted using the upload files form linked above; however, if that is not possible, we will contact you if necessary, but please be aware that this may delay the processing of your request.

Proof of your identity: e.g. a passport, residents permit, driving licence, birth certificate, pension or benefit book or letter
Proof of your current address dated within the last three months: e.g. a utility bill, bank or building society statement, rent card or tenancy agreement, council tax bill
